I finally made the advent calendar I've been planning for 3 years! Please don't get too excited. This certainly does NOT look like it's been worked on for 3 years, it's just that I finally made the time to do it. I had several ideas in mind, but here's what I finally chose to do:
Some of the numbers are hand written, but most are just stickers from my scrap-booking stuff. On some of the brads I hung little things. On the backs of each tag I'll write something special for our family to do together each night this month.
Now, practically speaking we're not going to be able to have a perfect little family warm and fuzzy holiday- spirited, cookie- baking, craft- making, cocoa- sipping, carol- singing, story- reading, movie- watching, popcorn- stringing night every one of these 25 days, but we'll have fun trying! This was fun and EASY to make. If you don't have an advent calendar I recommend making one and by all means don't wait 3 years to do it! :)

I think we were posting comments at the same time. :)
That looks wonderful!! Using brads and a canvas was a great idea. Love how your personality comes through.
I have a few of those projects I've been 'planning' for years...
Heidi- that's so good for me to hear right now that other people have projects they've been planning for years! I have trouble prioritizing...
so cute! I have had all the materials for our advent calendar put away for a year for when I get around to it. But I think moving and having a baby is a good excuse...maybe next year. :) You've had lots of changes the last 3 years too. :)
I LOVE IT!!! It's simple, but beautiful and tons of fun! MAYBE next year I can think of something to try. MAYBE I'll try to do a couple different count-down something or others for this year rather than just an advent calendar. My Aaron loves to count down to different things plus it's good for his math and number skills! Thanks for the great and creative ideas!
I love that advent calendar. It is so cute. I want to make one next year with my daughter. O would have never thought of that. It looks so nice
